MEGGER PD LOC Partial Discharge Tester

Overview

  • Foil keyboard with LEDs for selecting the pulse width
  • Impulse couplers 42 and 64 mm
  • 24 hours of operation with one battery charge
  • Evaluation identical to the OWTS pre-location
  • Cable identification option

The PD LOC system solves the problem of pinpointing for mixed cables (XLPE / PILC) and for PD in joints of single core cables. The exact location of the joints in the field is generally not known, and these joints cannot be localized using audio frequency methods.

The system has an impulse transmitter that uses a inductive coupler to inject a signal into the cable.

The receiving and evaluating unit consists of an input amplifier for processing the signal and a control unit. The visualization of the distance system's transmitter location is performed by using a TDR T30-E PD reflectometer in a separate menu, by means of an additional PD software function.

Network operators can now get faster and significantly more reliable information about the quality and the condition of their cables. This thanks to the brand-new PDS 62-SIN PD detector. For the first time, it has become possible to immediately locate faults in underground cables during the actual PD measurement. The PDS 62-SIN has been designed for all Megger VLF Sinusoidal testers up to 62kVpeak.

MEGGER HV DAC Series Test and diagnostic system for HV Cables

Overview

  • Compact and transportable; permits use on difficult to reach switchgear and substations
  • High testable capacity of 8 μF allowing testing of long cables
  • State of the art PD measurement technology: live evaluation, localization and display of results
  • Available in 200 kV and 300 kV model; other voltage levels on request

The HV DAC series is designed for after-laying testing on newly installed HV-cables as part of quality control, and for condition assessment on repaired or service-aged HV-cables.

The key benefit of this test set is the compactness versus testable capacity. With this transportable unit, cables with a length up to 32 km can be tested. In addition set-up within a substation is also no problem; no more roadblocks needed compared to using resonance test sets on large trucks.

As of its portability and short set-up time it is possible to quickly respond on changing weather conditions. Because of its low weight there are no special requirements needed for road conditions. Air transport is also no problem, keeping transport times to a minimum and maximising the efficiency in use of the system.

The test set incorporates a partial discharge (PD) detector, allowing monitoring the quality of workmanship and the condition of the cable. The PD measurement system is state of the art with live evaluation, localization and display of results. Maintenance activities can be directly planned during the actual measurement. All data is stored in a powerful cable data base, where data can be easily accessed again, and reports printed.

MEGGER TDS NT Cable Test and diagnosis system in one

Overview

  • Two proven voltage wave shapes in one device
  • Standard compliant VLF cable testing with accompanying PD diagnosis
  • Non-destructive PD diagnosis by means of proven DAC voltage
  • 50 Hz Slope Technology for a direct comparison with the power frequency

Network operators can now get faster and significantly more reliable information about the quality and the condition of their cables. This is made possible thanks to the brand-new 50 Hz Slope Technology. For the first time, it has become possible to immediately locate faults in underground cables during the actual PD measurement.

With the 50 Hz Slope Technology for the first time, a withstand test with VLF cosine-rectangular voltage (VLF CR) and PD diagnosis with damped alternating voltage (DAC) is combined in one unit. This allows an efficient and integrated solution for precise inventory of the network infrastructure. The important fact here is that the PD measurement data, gained with the VLF CR or with the DAC test voltage, can be compared directly with the 50 / 60 Hz network voltage. This facilitates reliable decision making.

MEGGER TDM45 High Power Test and Diagnosis Combination for MV Cables

Overview

  • Cable testing, cable diagnosis and sheath testing in one device
  • Enables standard compliant high power VLF testing at 0.1 Hz (5 µF @ 40 kVrms)

Overview

  • Voltage detectors
  • Seven models
  • Continuous monitoring
  • IEC conformance
  • Phasing testers
  • Grounded or ungrounded ac system check
  • Five models

For use on any grounded electrical system, DETEX Voltage Detectors are available in seven models that cover a range from distribution class to transmission line voltages up to 550 kV. Biddle offers six electronic ''beeper'' models and one model with LED indication for greater visibility when testing indoors.

The beeper-style electronic detectors provide audible and visual indication of the presence of phase-to-ground ac voltages, in accordance with ANSI C84.1-1982 standards.

The 6.9-kV model is equipped with a telescopic pole. All other models are fitted for universal spline mounting on a hot line pole rated for the voltage of the system being tested.

Electronic voltage detectors for use on distribution line voltages (Cat. No. 514360 series) provide a single red LED.

Detectors rated for transmission line voltages (Cat. No. 514242 series) provide four LEDs for improved visibility at greater distances.

The LED-indicating voltage detector is designed for indoor testing of grounded ac systems. A bright LED indicator provides easy visibility in poor lighting conditions. During testing, the presence of voltages within the detector's operating range will illuminate the bright LED lamp.

A built-in piezoelectric voltage source provides a test feature to ensure that the detector is operative before use. The self-test is activated by a pushbutton.

The LED detector is equipped with a 48-in. (1219-mm) telescopic pole calibrated and marked for voltages within the ratings of the detector. These demarcations assist the user in adjusting the pole to the length required for safe operation. The pole retracts to 34 in. (864 mm) for convenient storage in a vinyl carrying case when not in use.

MEGGER Diagnostic connection set measurement Accessories Kit

Overview

  • Permits a PD-free connection to the cable
  • Variety of adapters which covers most commonly used terminations

The Megger High Frequency Current Transformers (HFCT) are designed for decoupling of PD signals and can be used for multiple applications in MV, HV and EHV range. The HFCT sensors are attached around the cable / accessories earth connection e.g. a cable earth screen.

Megger offers permanent as well as split-core HFCT sensors. Permanent HFCT sensors are ideal for those assets were permanent monitoring is required or were getting outages are almost impossible. Having pre-installed HFCT sensors in this case will allow online PD monitoring without the need of an outage. The split-core HFCT’s are ideal for spot testing where there is direct access to the earth screen. The split-core HFCT’s can also be used inside switchgear cabinets, but then in most cases, as of safety reasons, an outage is required.

MEGGER MMG 10 Cable Sheath Tester

Overview

  • Adjustable current limiter
  • Easy and powerful testing of cable jackets
  • Pulsed output voltage for sheath fault pinpointing
  • Burning of cable faults

The sheath test system MMG 10 is used for the voltage testing of plastic insulated cable jackets. The test evaluated the leakage current in respect to the cable lengths. An adjustable current limiter avoids an eventual drying or unintended change of a fault spot.

The high output current can also be used for the low resistive burning of a fault. For pinpointing of sheath faults in plastic insulated shielded cables and earth faults in unshielded cables, the MMG 10 provides a pulsed output voltage. The pinpointing is done by the step voltage method with the Earth fault locator ESG 80-2 / ESG NT.
