MEGGER Tinsley Gauge Dry-Film Thickness Measurement

OVERVIEW

  • Economical
  • Convenient
  • Reaches every contour easily
  • Gravity compensated

The Tinsley Thickness Gauge is designed for measuring the dry-film thickness of any nonmagnetic material such as paint, plastic, etc., or plating such as zinc or chromium over a ferrous base (iron or steel).

The thickness gauge consists of a special lightweight magnet attached to a spring and contained within a pencil-like tube.

To take a measurement, the exploring head or magnet is placed on the surface and the body of the gauge is drawn away, thus extending the spring. The spring extension, the amount of which is observed on the scale, is proportional to the force required to detach the magnet from the surface. The reading is taken when the magnet breaks away from the surface, and the thickness is read directly from the scale.

The standard scale for nonmagnetic coatings on mild steel also applies to coatings on cast iron and low-alloy steels, without appreciable error, and to coatings on high-alloy steels, with a small correction for thicknesses of less than 0.001 in. (0.025 mm).

When used on bases other than mild steel, the gauge will still give repeatable results. For accurate work, a separate calibration is advised for each particular application. This can normally be carried out by the customer and a correction chart made.

MEGGER GEOLUX GL 660-1 Cable Ground Fault Locator

OVERVIEW

  • Mains filter for direct coupling to live cables up to 660 V
  • Pulsed output current for easier detection of the test signal
  • Filter for the suppression large interference signals
  • Location of earth faults up to 150 kOhm
  • No switch off during the fault location required
  • No influence to the signal lines connected to

Important control, signal and supply systems, such as those for railway installations, hospitals, power plants or other industrial facilities, are designed to be potential free (for example IT systems) and are monitored by earth fault indicators in order to ensure safe and uninterrupted operation.

A single earth fault will cause no service interruption. Only with the occurrence of a second earth fault a high risk of partial or complete breakdown of the installation arises. For this reason, any earth fault must be located and repaired as fast as possible. This fault location is done by the Geolux GL 660-1. The GL 660 is directly connected to the faulty line with life voltages up to 660 V, and generates a low frequent signal which allows the tracing by a specific receiver along the faulty line to the fault position.

MEGGER BVM,BVM300 and BVM600 Battery Voltage Monitor

OVERVIEW

  • Automates battery voltage measurement during capacity tests
  • “Daisy-chain” design allows expandability up to 120 units
  • High accuracy and stability for precise data collection
  • Integrates with TORKEL Win and PowerDB Test Data Management software
  • Wide voltage range
  • Easy set-up

The Megger BVM is a battery voltage measurement device that is used for the capacity testing of large, industrial battery banks commonly found in electrical power sub-stations, telecom facilities and computer data center UPS systems. When used in conjunction with a load device, such as the TORKEL unit, and test data management software, such as PowerDB and TORKEL Win, the BVM enables the user to perform a completely automated battery bank capacity test, according to IEC test method. The test also meets NERC/FERC requirements.

The BVM is designed in modular form where one BVM device is used for each battery or “jar” in the string to be tested. One BVM for each battery connects to the next in a “daisy-chain” fashion, thereby providing easy and economical expandability to meet the testing requirements for small-to-large battery bank systems.

They are designed for use together with TORKEL battery load units. Their purpose is to provide higher load currents for use in constant current or constant power tests. Together, TORKEL and the TXL extra loads form a system that can discharge batteries with currents of up to several kA. TXL extra loads are connected directly to the battery, and TORKEL measures the total current using a clamp-on ammeter.

MEGGER BGL Battery Ground Fault Locator

OVERVIEW

  • Ground faults in ungrounded dc battery systems easily located
  • Operates in high electrical noise environment
  • Simplifies fault tracing by identifying fault characteristic (resistive and capacitive) magnitudes

This instrument was developed to detect, track and locate ground faults on battery systems - without resorting to sectionalizing! Model BGL tracks and locates ground faults on live or dead battery systems. To save hours of unnecessary troubleshooting, the BGL readily differentiates between the resistive fault currents and capacitive charging currents. This feature allows the instrument to detect and track leakage paths, even in the presence of surge-suppression capacitors.
